Client’s wish
To transform an industrial commercial building, located in the port of Rotterdam, into a representative office and reception area. The corporate identity needed to be reflected in the styling but does not have to be overtly present. A functional design and a comfortable atmosphere, but above all, a luxurious appearance.

The desired programme of requirements only just fit into the available space. In order to avoid a claustrophobic feel, a layout with clear sight lines and separate spaces that are transparently connected to each other was created. Large windows have been installed to increase the amount of daylight.

To emphasise the transition from the industrial workshop to the luxury office, the wall with coarse masonry has remained intact. Because sturdy and rich materials have been used, cohesion has been created, and everything forms a whole.

The transparent window decor, made of narrow bamboo strips, slightly filters the light and view. As a result, the view of the Port of Rotterdam has subtly become part of the interior.
