Privacy statement

INTRODUCTION

As of 25 May 2018, our policy follows the European Union’s new General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’). We have updated our privacy policy to provide you with more information about why and how we process your personal data.

We respect the privacy of our clients, suppliers, visitors, and website users and try to protect this privacy as much as possible. If you have any questions about this, please contact us at info@kabaz.nl, with ‘Data Protection’ in the subject line, or on +31 (0)35-6284044.

WHO ARE WE?
Kabaz (The Art of Interiors B.V.) is a design agency specialised in architecture, interior design, construction management and styling. Kabaz works daily on the design and realisation of exclusive homes and offices in the Netherlands and abroad.

Kabaz is established at Loosdrechtseweg 204, 1215 KD, Hilversum, the Netherlands and De Brink 9, 1251 KR, Laren, the Netherlands, and is registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce under number 32092718.

PERSONAL DATA THAT WE PROCESS
We process the following personal data: first name and surname, address, place of residence, telephone number, gender, email address, IP address, location data, internet browser, device type, and data concerning activities on our website (read more about this in the section on cookies). We also process personal data that you actively provide, such as in correspondence and when contacting us by telephone.

UNIQUE AND/OR SENSITIVE PERSONAL DATA THAT WE PROCESS
Sometimes we ask for personal information that is relevant to the situation, such as a citizen service number to apply for a building permit or sending a CV for a job application. The Kabaz employees who have access to personal data are trained to handle your data carefully.

Our website and/or service does not have the intention to collect information about website visitors who are under 16 years of age unless they have permission from their parents or guardian. We cannot, however, verify whether a visitor is over 16 years of age. We therefore recommend that parents be involved in the online activities of their children in order to prevent data being collected on children without parental permission.

THE PURPOSES FOR AND GROUNDS UPON WHICH WE PROCESS PERSONAL DATA
Kabaz processes your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To be able to call, email, or contact you by post if this is necessary to carry out our services or the agreement entered into with you.
  • To inform you of changes to our services and products.
  • To process your payments and receipts.
  • To send out newsletters, annual greetings, press releases, and invitations for special activities.
  • To gain a better understanding of the visitors on our website through the monitoring of surfing behaviour. We only do this with your permission (read more about this in the section on cookies).
  • To analyse web statistics in order to optimise the website, but also to determine what content is needed.
  • To comply with laws and regulations.

AUTOMATED DECISION-MAKING
Kabaz does not make decisions on the basis of automated processing about matters that could have (significant) consequences for individuals. This refers to decisions made by computer programs or systems without a person (such as a Kabaz employee) being involved.

HOW LONG WE RETAIN PERSONAL DATA
We do not retain personal data longer than necessary to realise the purposes for which your data have been collected. The retention period is related to the purpose for which the data is obtained and any legal obligations.

SHARING OF PERSONAL DATA WITH THIRD PARTIES
Kabaz will only provide personal information to third parties if necessary to execute our agreement with you or to comply with a legal obligation. Kabaz will not sell your information to third parties. With companies that process your data on our behalf, we enter into a processing agreement to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality of your data. Kabaz remains responsible for this processing.

COOKIE STATEMENT
We place cookies to improve our services, to allow the website to function optimally and for the purposes described in this privacy statement. Cookies are small, plain-text files that are stored on the hard disk or in the memory of your device (computer/mobile phone/tablet). The information stored therein can be sent back to our servers on your next visit. Cookies cannot damage your device or the files stored on it. We, advertisers, and intermediaries can use the cookies that are placed through our websites. An overview of the cookies we use:

FUNCTIONAL COOKIES
Functional cookies are necessary for the website to function properly. These cookies are therefore placed by default and are not deleted when you do not accept them. Functional cookies ensure that you can remain logged in during your visit to the website.

TRACKING COOKIES
By using a permanent cookie, we can recognise our visitors’ device(s) when they revisit our website. This allows us to remember certain settings per visitor. The website can be adjusted to your preferences with the help of cookies. Even when you have previously given permission to place cookies, we can remember this by means of a cookie. This saves you from having to repeatedly indicate your preferences, which, in turn, saves you time and makes it easier for you to use our website. You can remove permanent cookies via your browser settings.

By using a session cookie, we can see what parts of the website you have viewed during this visit. This enables us to adapt our service as much as possible to the surfing behaviour of our visitors. These cookies are automatically deleted as soon as you close your web browser.

ANALYTICAL COOKIES
The US company Google places a cookie via our website as part of the ‘Analytics’ service. We use this service to track and get reports on how visitors use the website. We can use this information to improve the website. Google may provide this information to third parties if Google is legally obliged to do so, or to the extent that third parties are able to use the information obtained by Google for other Google services.

The information collected by Google is anonymised as much as possible. Your IP address is expressly not provided. The information is transferred to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google claims to adhere to the Privacy Shield principle as set out by the United States Department of Commerce and agreed between the European Union and the United States. This means that there is an adequate level of protection for the processing of any personal data. The Google Analytics cookies are stored for a maximum of 50 months and then automatically expire.

SOCIAL WIDGETS
Some pages of our website may contain buttons to promote (‘like’) or share (‘post’) web pages on social networks such as Instagram, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. These buttons work by means of pieces of code that originate from Instagram, Pinterest, or LinkedIn themselves. Cookies are placed by means of this code. We have no influence on this, so please read the privacy statements of the social services used (which can change regularly) to read what they do with your (personal) data that they process via these cookies.

OTHER/UNFORESEEN COOKIES
Due to the way the internet and websites work, we may not always have insight into the cookies that are placed by third parties via our website. This is particularly the case if our web pages contain so-called ‘embedded elements’, such as texts, documents, images, or videos that are stored with another party but are shown on, in, or through our website.

Do you encounter cookies on our website that fall into this category (and which we therefore have not mentioned above) or is the list not up to date? Please let us know by sending an email to info@kabaz.nl with the subject ‘Data protection’ or by calling 035-6284044.

DELETING COOKIES
The easiest way to delete your cookies is via your browser. Below is a list of the most commonly used browsers with a link to how you can delete your cookies in that browser:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Internet Explorer
  • Safari

Right to access, modify, or delete your data
You have the right to inspect, correct, or remove your personal data. Furthermore, you have the right to withdraw your consent for data processing or object to the processing of your personal data by Kabaz, and you have the right to data portability. This means that you can request that we send, in a computer file, the personal data we have about you to you, or to another representative named by you. You can send a request for your consent or objection to the processing of your personal data to our Data Protection Officer at info@kabaz.nl, stating Data Protection in the subject line. To ensure that the request is made by you, please enclose a copy of your identity document with the request. Black out the following items in this copy: your passport photo, the MRZ (machine readable zone, the strip with numbers at the bottom of the passport), your passport number, and your citizen service number (BSN). This is to protect your privacy. If it concerns access to personal data linked to a cookie, you must send a copy of the cookie in question. You can find this in your browser’s settings. We will respond to your request as soon as possible, but within four weeks. Kabaz would also like to point out that you have the option to file a complaint with the national supervisor, the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

Amendments
From time to time, we may make changes to our privacy policy. It is therefore wise to regularly review this Privacy Statement for the most up-to-date Kabaz privacy policy.
