Usually, architecture is explained as a meeting of building elements, constructions and structures, but it’s so much more than that. When I think about a building I have been to, what I remember is actually quite subjective. For example, I remember the smells and acoustics of the place. Is it light or dark, cold or warm? All the factors that are simultaneously experienced in the very first second and are so crucial to the total experience that you perceive and remember. In my opinion, composing an atmosphere and experience is what (interior) architecture is all about, and that needs to be directed during the design process. In short: design equals emotion.
